THE area of Clifton Block 2 in Karachi is home to several malls and departmental stores, and is considered a posh locality. However, the entire civic structure of the area, including the roads and sewerage lines, is in a bad shape.

Many of the green areas have been encroached upon by restaurants. A large number of them function from evening till late in the night with the connivance of relevant authorities. Besides, some of the streets have been illegally occupied by garage owners. A vast area close to the Indus Valley School is used as garage for denting, painting, gasoline and chemical works, endangering the lives of the residents.

Moreover, an increasing number of stray dogs, some of them in a very unhealthy condition, roam the streets, posing great threat to the passers-by. The city authorities should set things right without further delay.
