TAXILA: A team of health officials on Wednesday sealed a number of ‘illegal’ health facilities run by quacks posing as general physicians, hakeems, homoeopathic doctors, opticians, dentists and bone-setters during surprise visits carried out in rural and urban parts of Attock.

The team of the Punjab Healthcare Commission led by Deputy District Health Officer Dr Shahryar Iqbal issued Challans to a number of hospitals, clinics, maternity homes and medical stores for not observing hygiene under the Punjab Healthcare Commission Act 2010.

Briefing the newsmen about the crackdown, Deputy District Health Officer Dr Shahryar Iqbal said that these quacks were operating in the city especially rural areas in the guise of qualified professionals and were also causing Hepatitis B and C and many other diseases.

He said raids were carried out on almost all types of healthcare establishments including hospitals and laboratories and their cases were referred to drug courts for further legal action.
