RAHIM YAR KHAN: A team of the Higher Education Department (HED) is scheduled to visit the local sub-campus of the Islamia University, Bahawalpur, on Monday to look into multiple complaints of wrongdoings against two senior administrative officials.

English Department assistant professor Dr Zohaib Zahid told Dawn on Sunday that he and other faculty members had penned a letter to the IUB VC, HED and HEC and sought action against them on misuse of authority, financial and moral corruption.

The letter said the two officials had created an atmosphere of harassment as female students and teachers were reluctant to visit admin offices for their academic and job matters.

The letter said the female students and teachers remained under a constant threat of losing their degree and jobs. Some girls filed written complaints which were pushed under the carpet. The letter further said the heads of departments had no authority to allocate courses to the faculty members which was a blatant violation of the Islamia University rules.

Other signatories to the letter are Education associate professor Dr Muhammad Athar Hussain, lecturers Muhammad Salim Abbas, Zarlashia Zia, Ambar Qadir, Muhammad Riaz, assistant treasurer Rizwanul Hasan and hostel warden Kiran Sardar.
