BAJAUR: The Bajaur district administration on Friday asked the the health department to take measures to prevent an outbreak of dengue in the region.

Additional deputy commissioner Zohib Hayat made the call while presiding over a dengue oversight committee meeting, according to a statement.

Officials of the district administration, health and other departments were in attendance.

The statement said the health department officials informed the participants that they were making all-out efforts to prevent dengue outbreak.

They said the department had formed several teams to eliminate dengue larvae. They said people were being made aware of precautions against the mosquito-borne disease.

Speaking on this occasion, Zohib Hayat also directed the tehsil municipal administrations to ensure that there were no breeding places of dengue larvae.

He also directed the officials of education department to launch dengue awareness campaign at educational institutions.
