NAROWAL: At least 17 people were injured when a bus overturned near Pasrur in district Sialkot on Saturday.

The accident occurred due to high speed of the bus on the bumpy road. According to Rescue 1122, the bus coming from Sohawa reached near Pasrur when its driver lost control and it overturned.

The rescuers rushed to the spot on receiving information and pulled the injured out of the bus with the help of the locals.

Seventeen passengers, including Faryad Hussain, 40, Qaiser Nadeem, 35, Nasreen Begum, 38, Naseer Ahand, 35, Sajid Mahmood, 30, Qaisra Bibi, 35, Muhammad Rafiq, 32, were seriously injured. Seven injured passengers were shifted to the hospital in private vehicles. Muhammad Waseem, the spokesperson for Rescue 1122, said accident happened due to speeding and bad road condition.

ARRESTED: Narowal police arrested four suspects from villages of Gargal and Fatehpur Afghan of tehsil Shakargarh and seized more than 100 bottles of liquor and weapons from them.

District Police Officer Kamran Mumtaz ordered Shakargarh Deputy Superintendent of Police Malik Mohammad Khalil to conduct a search operation in the morning. The Elite Force personnel also took part in the operation in which suspects, Shabir Khan, Tanveer Khan and Qayyum Khan, were arrested from village Gargal. Police recovered automatic weapons and a large quantity of ammunition.

Police arrested two more suspects, identified as Shehzad Aslam and Taimur Khan, from Fatehpur Afghan during an operation. Police have recovered more than 100 bottles of liquor and a large quantity of hashish from the suspects. Police said the liquor was to be sold on Eidul Fitr.
