ISLAMABAD: The federal government has notified the promotion of 74 mid-level officers of the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) and Police Service of Pakistan (PSP).

The establishment division, the government’s human resources arm, issued notifications of these promotions, a reshuffle in the ministries, and the acceptance of Dr Sania Nishtar’s resignation as chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme on Saturday.

The government has appointed Ayesha Humera Chaudhry as the additional secretary information technology division, whereas her predecessor Ali Sher Mehsud was posted as an additional secretary economic affairs division. Zubair Asghar Qureshi, who was serving in the economic affairs division, has been transferred to the food ministry as an additional secretary.

Meanwhile, the establishment division also notified the promotion of 31 police officers and 43 officers of PAS.

Sania Nishtar’s resignation as BISP head accepted

Rizwan Gondal, who was previously facing the wrath of the PTI government, is also among the promoted officers.

Mr Gondal was removed as Pakpattan district police officer on Aug 26, 2018, stirring up controversy as his transfer was reportedly linked to an alleged altercation between a police official and former First Lady Bushra Imran’s former husband, Khawar Fareed Maneka.
