NAROWAL: Sialkot district police have arrested nine proclaimed offenders involved in heinous crimes, including murder, from different countries through collaboration with Interpol in the last two months.

According to district police spokesperson Khurram Shahzad, Sialkot District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Hassan Iqbal took special initiative for the arrests of these most-wanted offenders, who had fled to different foreign countries, including Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Muscat, through Interpol’s Red Warrants.

Those arrested from abroad include Omar Khalid, Muhammad Bilal, Zeeshan Shaukat, Imtiaz Ali, Rasheed Ahmed, Atif Sohail, Amir Anis, Imran Raza and Tauseef-ur-Rehman.

The spokesperson said FIRs had been registered against these most wanted offenders at various police stations in Sialkot district.

He said one of the arrested accused, Amir Sohail had allegedly killed a man in Satra police station limits in 2007 and fled abroad. Sialkot police arrested him from Muscat after 15 years, he added.

Meanwhile, he said Daska police also arrested nine suspects belonging to two robbery gangs.

He said five of the arrested suspects belonged to notorious Hashu gang that was busted and its ringleader Ali Nawab was also nabbed. He said both the busted gangs were wanted by police in 33 robbery cases, however, during interrogation the criminals confessed to have committed more than 40 robberies so far.

A police spokesman said that dozens of motorcycles, mobile phones, cash and other valuables worth millions of rupees were recovered from the arrested criminals.

The DPO has announced cash prizes and certificates of appreciation for the police teams involved in busting the gangs.
