Secretary briefed about steps for population welfare in Dir

LOWER DIR: Population welfare department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, secretary Mohammad Ziaul Haq on Saturday visited Lower Dir district and reviewed the performance of the department. He appreciated the performance of the district population welfare department and assured it of his full support.

He visited the Reproductive Health Services Centre and Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Centre (ASRH) at the tehsil headquarters hospital, Chakdara.

The secretary was jointly briefed by district population welfare officer Mohammad Usman and ASRH in-charge Ms Nayab about various activities being performed by the office and field staff.

Mr Haq directed the officials of local population welfare department to work with dedication while performing official duties. He asked the officials to use their personal relations and influence in the area for promotion and advocacy of the department.

Earlier, Mr Usman gave presentation on activities of the population welfare department at a meeting held at the new office in Balambat.

About the department’s performance, Mr Usman said that during the current three quarters a total of 86,000 general patients were served. He said that 288 service delivery inspections were carried out and 31 workshops organised during the same period.

FOOD PACKAGES: The Helping Hand for Relief and Development, an organisation working for welfare of orphans and poor in Dir, on Saturday distributed Ramazan food packages among orphans and deserving families.

The packages were distributed during separate functions held at Samarbagh and Talash.

The organisation’s regional manager Aminullah and programme organiser Mohammad Bilal were also present on the occasion.
