LAHORE: Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) Chairperson Ali Salman Siddique has said Hunarmand Nojawan Programme is the flagship demand-driven project of the government for transforming the youth into an engine of growth.

In a statement on Thursday, he said the project was successfully progressing towards achieving its target of training 100,900 youths by the end of June 2022 in 57 demand-driven training programmes while 90,000 already enrolled trainees are going to complete training soon.

Despite the challenges of the Covid-19 and closure of the Tevta institutes for almost 10 months, Mr Siddique said, Tevta had succeeded in keeping the momentum of the project going and was also striving hard to create economic opportunities for its graduates through the private sector.

Mr Siddique referred to the overall progress of Hunarmand Nojawan programme with the 98.7pc trainees informing it that they were satisfied with the facilities and quality of education at Tevta. As per a report, 88.7pc trainees informed that they would recommend others to take admission under this project and 73.3pc informed that they were unskilled before taking the course and they were fully skilled at the time of response.

The Tevta chairperson said 93pc feedback of the unemployed trainees had been taken during the course of training at the institutes which was meant for gauging Tevta’s capacity/performance to channelise the unskilled community into skilled one.
