GUJRAT: The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid has sought a tax exemption of five years for launching new businesses in Phase II of the Gujrat Industrial Estate.

“Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has raised this issue with Prime Minister Imran Khan during their meeting in Lahore on Tuesday last,” says Federal Minister for Water Resources Moonis Elahi.

Speaking to the business fraternity at the Gujrat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GtCCI) on Wednesday, Mr Elahi said since his party was making efforts to get a divisional status for Gujrat, the phase II of the industrial area had been designed by the Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) by keeping in view the future requirements of a divisional headquarters industrial area where an underground electricity facility would be available.

He said the prices of plots in the new industrial estate had also been kept low as compared to the market rates. He said a new police station for the industrial area security had also been made functional.

Moonis said the establishment of a technical training institute of Tevta had also been planned at the new industrial area to provide skilled human resource to the industrial sector.
