ISLAMABAD: The International Institute for Justice Excellence (IIJE) - an international organisation based in The Hague, The Netherlands (Holland) – has selected former chief justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa for the Administration of Justice Excellence Award, 2022.

A formal ceremony to present the award to Justice Khosa is expected in The Hague in the next few weeks.

The selection of Justice Khosa was made by IIJE – an international Non-political, Non-profit Institution, dedicated to improving The Administration of Justice, was finalised on Feb 28, 2022

The criteria for selection for the award was demonstration of leadership in improving the administration of justice through the application of modern management techniques; supporting the independence of the judiciary, contributing to the development and implementation of reforms to improve access to, and the administration of justice, increasing proficiencies of other administrators or court staff through service, teaching, and/or contributing to the field through exchange of information relating to court administration; and distinguished service and contributions to the profession having relevance at a State, national or international level.

The IIJE considered different factors in the selection of Justice Khosa like he was instrumental in clearing 25 years of backlog of thousands of criminal appeals pending before the Supreme Court of Pakistan and during his 22 years of judicial career he decided about 57,000 cases.
