PESHAWAR: A terrorist was killed in an exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists in Shewa tehsil of North Waziristan tribal district during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday.

In the same area, six personnel and a child suffered injuries in a bomb-and-gun attack on security forces during the day.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), in the exchange of intense fire between security forces and terrorists in the general area of Shewa, terrorist Irfan aka Abu Darda got killed. A weapon along with ammunition was seized from his possession.

The ISPR said he was involved in terrorist activities against security forces, targeted killings and kidnapping for ransom.

Locals appreciated the operation and expressed their full support to eliminate menace of terrorism from the area, it added. Later during the day, a convoy of security forces was targeted in a bomb attack in the area, officials said.
