PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has expressed his dissatisfaction over the pace of work on different housing schemes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme and set one-month deadline to the quarters concerned to ensure visible progress on these schemes.

According to a statement issued here on Tuesday, the chief minister said that Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme was a flagship project of the incumbent government to provide low cost houses to people and the delay in this regard would not be tolerated.

The chief minister issued the directives while chairing a meeting regarding the housing projects under the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme. Additional chief secretary Shahab Ali Shah, administrative secretaries and other senior officials attended the meeting, which reviewed progress made so far on various housing projects.

On this occasion, Mahmood Khan directed the authorities concerned to resolve land issues for these housing schemes and fix the timeline for the groundbreaking of Peri Urban Housing Schemes.

Briefing the meeting about the work done so far on the housing schemes, it was stated that progress was being made on Surizai, Jalozia and Peri Urban housing schemes.

It was added that PC-I of the Jalozai Housing Scheme comprising 150 kanals had been approved while the project would be completed at a total cost of Rs3.3 billion. The meeting was informed that a consultant had been hired for designing of the project.
