LAKKI MARWAT: Two terrorists were killed in a shootout with police after they martyred a Frontier Corps soldier and left his body in the mountains near Karmukhel village of Lakki Marwat district, said a police official on Sunday.

He said that Rafiullah, an FC personnel posted in Balochistan, had come to his native village on leave.

“On Jan 14, he left home at noon on a motorcycle, but did not return till evening and the next day his bullet-riddled body was found in the mountains near Karmukhel area,” he said.

The official said that the killers had also taken away motorcycle of the martyred soldier.

He said the soldier’s brother Shafiullah named the terrorists affiliated with a banned outfit for the murder of his brother in his preliminary report.

He said that a police contingent along with armed villagers reached the remote area and during search operation a group of terrorists attacked them.

The official said that the police retaliated and the gun battle continued for an hour. Later, the police recovered the bodies of two terrorists when firing stopped and seized two AK-47 assault rifles and the stolen motorcycle, he said.

He said the police identified the suspected terrorists as Abdul Rauf, a resident of Sherikhel, and Suleman of Jabukhel with the help of villagers.

Meanwhile, a wanted outlaw, identified as Waheed of Jabukhel, was killed in an encounter with police in Kherukhel Pakka area of the district late on Saturday night. An official said the outlaw was wanted by police in several cases of heinous nature.
