LAKKI MARWAT: The Counter-Terrorism Department killed two terrorists in an encounter in Wanda Amir area of Lakki Marwat on Friday night.

An official said on Saturday that the CTD commandos carried out an intelligence-based operation in the rural area.

“A group of terrorists attacked the policemen when they raided their hideout,” said the official, adding the CTD commandos returned the fire and a gun battle ensured.

The official said that two terrorists were killed in the encounter, adding that the law enforcers seized two AK-47 assault rifles, magazines, bullets, explosives and improvised explosive devices from the spot.

The official identified the killed terrorists as Mohammad Nasir and Umer Ayaz, residents of Lakki Marwat district.

The official added that the slain terrorists were affiliated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, and were involved in a number of subversive activities, including targeted killing, extortion, bomb blasts and attacks on law enforcement agencies personnel.

“Both the killed terrorists were wanted by the police in cases relating to an attack on a police van, wherein four personnel were martyred, and killing of an Intelligence Bureau sub-inspector, Khan Bahadar, last month,” he claimed, saying that a contingent of police was in the area to search for more terrorists.
