Three labourers die from suffocation and burns

LAHORE: Three workers were recovered dead from an under-construction house at Sattokatla here on Tuesday.

A police official said they died of suffocation and multiple burns when a fire broke out in a room where they were asleep.

He said the deceased identified as Zaman, Ali Hassan and Naeem were labourers by profession and their bodies were recovered from an under-construction house of a private housing society.

Police got an emergency call on 15 about the mysterious death of the three men early on Tuesday, he said.

He added that during investigations police found a partially burnt gas cylinder and there was gas smell in the room.

Cylinder blast: A minor girl died while four others injured, two of them critically, when an LPG gas cylinder exploded at their home in Sabzazar area here on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at Dubbanpura and the police and the Rescue 1122 teams rushed the injured children to a local hospital.

A police official said the gas cylinder exploded at the kitchen where Khadija, Iman Fatima, Hadia and Mohsin were playing.

He said they all suffered multiple burns when the fire erupted shortly after the explosion. The parents of the children were present in an adjoining room, he said.

Khadija (3) died of severe burns when she was being shifted to hospital along with other children.
