LAHORE: A gang of five armed robbers robbed three adjacent houses in Bahria Town and deprived the residents of cash and valuables, including jewellery worth millions of rupees.

Sundar police registered a case against the suspects on complaint of Ali Arslan and started investigation.

Mr Arslan told Dawn the ceremony of his brother’s marriage was going on in his house and two adjacent houses in Iris Block of Bahria Town two days back. Around 7:30pm, five unidentified men carrying Kalashnikovs and other sophisticated weapons entered his house and held his family hostage at gunpoint. The suspects went to two other adjacent houses also and tied up all the people of three houses in one house.

Arslan said the suspects snatched cash, jewellery and other items from his family and guests. Some of the guests, who were staying on the second floor of the house, did not open the doors and called police and Bahria Town’s security.

He said the robbers took all the cash and valuables before the security arrived but no one chased them.

Mr Arslan said the police and Bahria Town security did not help them and started levelling allegations against each other.

“Policemen said it was the responsibility of Bahria Town Security to ensure the safety of the residents,” he said.
