KOHAT: Hundreds of residents of Kizar village of Marai union council here have lamented the absence of a link road, forcing them to take patients to hospitals on cots and bring groceries from bazaars on donkeys in the modern age.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, newly-elected chairman of Marai Bala union council Bilal Hussain and chairman of Ittefaq welfare organisation Esar Bangash demanded immediate construction of road to rid the residents of troubles.

They said the villagers had to walk miles before reaching the main road to go to their workplaces and the bazaars for shopping. They said the local residents had made several complaints to the district administration and the lawmakers to build a road to the village, but to no avail.

They appealed to district development advisory committee chairman Ziaullah Bangash and Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Chairman Shehryar Afridi to order construction of a link road.

ZAB ANNIVERSARY: Speakers at a function held here on Wednesday to mark the 94th birth anniversary of PPP founder and former prime minister late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto declared that democracy would have strengthened if he had been allowed to continue as the prime minister.

Hundreds of PPP workers attended the function, where a cake was also cut to mark the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, PPP local president Qazi Sajid, former president Andur Rauf Advocate, Nadir Khan Khattak and others said the pro-poor manifesto given by ZAB decades ago was still relevant. They vowed to keep alive his legacy for betterment of the country.
