RAWALPINDI: The traffic police licensing branch has temporarily suspended renewal and issuance of driving licences due to unavailability of ‘driving tickets’ for the year 2022 at General Post Office (GPO).
Chief Traffic Officer Taimoor Khan announced on Wednesday that the whole process of issuing of driving licences has temporarily been halted due to unavailability of tickets for new year.
He said the driving licence branch staff had been reduced and they had been deployed in the field to keep the city’s traffic flowing.
The CTO said the process of issuing of driving licences will be initiated as soon as the tickets are available at the post offices.
“As the tickets will be available at the post offices, the traffic department workers will be ready to serve customers more effectively and with commitment,” said the CTO.
He also said the employees of the licensing branch have temporarily been assigned to other sectors and that they would return to their prior duties as soon as the licensing office resumes operations.
On the other hand, the City Traffic Police has issued a travel advisory for motorists traveling to Murree Hill during snowfall.
The traffic police advised the motorists not to violate traffic regulations, especially one-way, prefer using 4-wheel vehicles and to keep the low air pressure in their cars while driving two wheel drive cars.
It further advised motorists to drive carefully, use chains in case of using a two-wheel drive car and call to police helpline “15” in case of police help.
