RAWALPINDI: The inscription carrying the name ‘Cantonment Public Library’ was reinstalled on its premises and the computer section that was set up in the main hall was shifted to another building.
Talking to Dawn, Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) Secretary Qaser Mehmood said the inscription was removed due to renovation, adding that all book counters had been set up again.
He insisted that the offices of arbitration council and computer section were shifted to library’s hall temporarily due to renovation of RCB offices. “The library has been vacated from all kinds of offices,” he added.
“RCB has not only restored the valuable assets of Lansdowne Trust but also started work to save historical buildings in the cantonment areas. It is committed towards preserving the heritage and a number of proposals are under consideration in this regard. It will start practical work soon,” he said.
