HYDERABAD, Nov 20: Sindh People’s Party Parliamentarian president Qaim Ali Shah has said that the founding day of the party will be celebrated at district headquarters on November 30 and the central programme will be held in Hyderabad.

He was talking to newsmen at the residence of party leader MPA Zahid Bhurgari on Sunday.

He said that in absence of party chairperson Benazir Bhutto, the party workers were becoming restive. He said that the workers were hopeful of the future and there was no disappointment among them.

He said that $5.8 billion was pledged at the donors’ conference but it was yet to see the government planned to use the funds.

He said that the party was in safe hands and people have full confidence and trust in the leadership of Benazir Bhutto due to immense sacrifices of the Bhutto family for the country and people.

He dispelled an impression that some differences had cropped up in the party and said that an inquiry was being held against some people for violation of party discipline.

He said that there was no place for opportunist and self-seekers in the party.

He said that a committee comprising Aftab Shaaban Mirani and Taj Hyder had been appointed to look into the conduct of some party leaders who had violated party discipline in the local body elections.

He said that the report of the committee would be submitted to Ms Bhutto for appropriate action against violators.

He demanded that parliament and people be taken into confidence about distribution of relief goods and funds among earthquake victims.

He questioned that why the foreign exchange reserves of $14 billion were not being utilized for the rehabilitation of earthquake victims.

He said the funds being provided by the donor countries were not being given in charity but a portion of the amount was being given as loan.

He pointed out that Pakistan was already in debt to the tune of $32 billion.

Replying to a question about the newly formed alliance in Sindh, Qaim Ali Shah said that only time would tell whether the alliance comes up to the expectations of the people.
