LAHORE: A man running cable network business in Lahore was allegedly kidnapped and was later found murdered in Daska.

The deceased, Chaudhry Shaukat Ali, said to be an office-bearer of a cable operators’ association and ran his business on the Sher Shah Road here.

His brother Bashir Ahmad told the police that Shaukat Ali left his house for his office in the evening on Nov 9 by his car. He said his brother was in contact with his family members on phone which stopped responding around 11pm.

The Badami Bagh police lodged a case of Shaukat’s kidnapping against unidentified persons on the complaint of Bashir Ahmad.

On Friday, Daska police recovered tortured body of Shaukat from a canal in the area, a police official said, adding that the arms and legs of the deceased were tied with a rope.

There were wounds on the head that showed the unidentified kidnappers had killed Shaukat before throwing his body into the canal, he said, adding that the body had been shifted to the city morgue for autopsy. The police official said the motive behind the brutal murder could not be ascertained so far.

He said the police experts would visit the Daska to further investigate the kidnap-cum-murder case.
