QUETTA: A woman police inspector has been compulsorily retired for negligence, misconduct and misuse of her authority.

Inspector Shabana Irshad of Balochistan Police had tortured a woman, who was arrested in a murder case, while interrogating her in Jinnah Town police station.

Deputy Inspector General Mohammad Azhar Akram took notice of the incident and ordered an inquiry against the inspector and appointed ASP Pari Gul Tareen to investigate the matter.

During the inquiry, ASP Gul found the inspector guilty. In her report, she said that during the case investigation, the inspector was found guilty of negligence, misconduct, misuse of authority and immoral and non-professional behaviour towards her duty.

The report revealed that during the interrogation, the suspect was stripped and forced to dance.

The woman inspector was given ample opportunity to defend herself, but she failed.

In view of the inquiry report, Inspector Shabana Irshad has been awarded ‘compulsory retirement from police service’ as punishment.
