HYDERABAD, Nov 15: The first and the second semester examination of batch-2005 and special semester examinations of batch-2004 in all disciplines of the University of Sindh started at the Allama I.I. Kazi Campus Jamshoro on Monday.

As many as 16,000 boy and girl candidates are appearing in the semester examination in 45 disciplines for bachelors and masters programme.

The university established 45 examination centres at all faculties to conduct the examination.

Vice-chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui inspected arrangements for examination at various centres.

EXAMINATION FORM: The controller of examination of the University of Sindh has announced that the last date for submission of examination forms has been extended up to November, 30 with late fee of Rs2,200 for BA, BSc, BCom, BSW, BSc (home economics) part-I and part-II and MA previous and final under annual examination of 2005.

MUET: Dr Des Mclernon, director of the postgraduate studies of the University of Leeds visited department of electronics, telecommunication computer systems, software and textile engineering of the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology here on Monday.

He appreciated quality and range of equipments of the Telecom Laboratories and evinced keen interest in the textile labs.

In his presentation to electrical, electronics and computer engineering faculty he demonstrated how channel capacity in mobile wireless communication could be enhanced by different methods.

Dr A. K. Baloch, co-director of the Institute of Information Technology, MUET, described the efforts for enhancing postgraduate and Ph.D Studies at the Mehran University.

Dr Rafique Abro, dean of the faculty of electrical, electronics, computer system engineering said that the MoU between Leeds and Mehran would be highly beneficial for the two universities.

He said that Dr Mclernon’s visit would help Mehran to update its curriculum for undergraduate and postgraduate studies and open new avenues for joint collaboration in research and mutual exchanges of students.

In the afternoon Dr Mclernon gave lecture to new ME batch at the Institute of Information Technology of the University.
