KOHAT: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi participated in the celebrations of annual Urs of Ghamkol Sharif, known as Hazrat Zinda Pir, here on Saturday.

Strict security arrangements were made for his visit and thousands of other pilgrims from across the country and abroad.

On this occasion, the AJK prime minister met with the grandsons and caretakers of the shrine, Pir Abdullah Shah and Pir Anwar Junaid Shah, and paid tribute to the Zinda Pir.

Mr Niazi also laid a chadar at the Dargah and offered fateha for the Pir on the occasion.

MILK PRICE: The Milk Shop Owners Association has appealed to the district administration to allow them an average Rs20 hike per kilogramme in view of the rising cost of electricity and gas, and threatened to go on strike if their demand was not accepted.

Talking to mediapersons here on Saturday, the president of milk shop owners and proprietor of Ghazi Hotel, Badshah Gul, demanded that the price of buffalo milk should be fixed at Rs130 per kg and that of cow at Rs120 per kg so they could meet their expenses and make a reasonable profit.

He said that milk was being sold at Rs140 in other districts, but its price had been kept at Rs110 per kilogramme in Kohat. He said the price of shopping bags had shot up to Rs400 per kg from Rs200 per kg while rents of shops had also gone up.

PTI WORKERS JOIN PML-N: Scores of disgruntled members of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf here on Saturday joined PML-N at a ceremony in the presence of former senator and central joint secretary of the party Abbas Khan Afridi.

Mr Afridi received the members, including those from minorities, at Khan village. He gave them the party caps and welcomed them in the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. The new entrants said the PTI government had failed to fulfil its pre-election promises.
