QUETTA: A total of 1,750 dengue cases have been reported from Gwadar, Kech and Lasbela districts of Balochistan this year.

Talking to newsmen here on Saturday, Coordinator of Balochistan Malaria Control Programme Dr Khalid Qambrani said deputy commissioners and district health officers were working jointly to control the spread of dengue in these three districts.

After detecting these cases, he said, steps were being taken on an emergency basis for controlling dengue.

Dr Qambrani said the Malaria Control Programme and the Balochistan Health Department had been providing all possible facilities to the people suffering from dengue in the three districts. After taking timely steps the situation was now under control in Gwadar, Kech and Lasbela districts, he added.

“No death has so far been reported in these districts over the past 10 months,” he said, adding that the majority of dengue cases had been reported from Gwadar and Lasbela districts.
