PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Monday transferred the provincial health secretary after his department came under fire in the provincial assembly last week over its casual attitude towards the house’s business.

Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah (BS-20), secretary health department, has been transferred and posted as the secretary irrigation department, according to a notification issued from the establishment department.

The notification said Muhammad Tahir Orakzai (BS-20), secretary irrigation department, has been transferred and posted secretary health.

On Sept 20, members of the provincial assembly came down hard on the health department over its casual attitude.

Speaker Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani had told the house that he had already dispatched a note of displeasure against the health secretary to the chief secretary and was going to send another one.

Health minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra has acknowledged administrative shortcomings in his department and said he would take up the issue with the chief minister and the chief secretary.
