SHANGLA: Speakers at seminar here on Tuesday stressed the need for timely vaccination of livestock and adaptation of better husbandry practices to get maximum benefits.

The seminar was organised in Langbar area of Bunerwal union council in Chakesar tehsil by livestock department as part of ‘Livestock Farmers Field Day’ to create awareness among people.

The event was attended by more than 100 farmers, local elders and officials of livestock department. Assistant Commissioner Ihsanullah was chief guest on the occasion.

Addressing the seminar, Dr Haider Hayat said there were no factories and other facilities in Shangla district. However, the local poverty-stricken communities could make handsome amount through the livestock business, he added.

He said that livestock needed proper care as well as timely vaccination. He said that the department was striving to make the local farmers skilled by creating awareness among them for the better healthcare of livestock.

Dr Shaukat also highlighted importance, procedures and objectives of public sector development projects.

AC Ihsanullah in his speech stressed the need for timely vaccination of livestock and adaptation of better husbandry practices for getting maximum benefits.

He urged the farmers to get benefitted from the Prime Minister’s Agriculture and Livestock Emergency Programme. The livestock department officials on the occasion distributed free medicines, vaccines and other items among the farmers for 1,973 animals.

ACCIDENT: Four persons were critically injured when a pickup vehicle skidded off the Bisham-Swat road in Shaumanu Kas area of Alpuri tehsil here on Tuesday.

The Rescue 1122 spokesperson, Rasool Khan Sharif, told journalists that a pickup vehicle, coming from Swat, skidded off the road near the district headquarters Alpuri. He added that four persons were critically injured in the accident.

Mr Sharif said that the injured persons were provided with first aid by the Rescue 1122 team. They were shifted to district headquarters hospital in Alpuri for treatment. He said that the injured belonged to Kuz Alpuri area of Shangla.
