MANSEHRA: A man died and three sustained critical injuries when a Rawalpindi-bound loaded truck overturned in Gigal area of Lower Kohistan on the Karakoram Highway on Friday.

“The KKH was blocked following the accident, but it was cleared to traffic after an hour,” Lower Kohistan district police officer Zulfiqar Khan Jadoon told reporters.

The truck loaded with fruit and vegetables was coming from Gilgit.

It overturned while negotiating a turn, blocking the road.

The blockade caused long queues of vehicles on the strategically important artery.

The deceased was identified as Abuzar.

A police party rushed to the scene, cleared the road to traffic and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital, wherefrom they were referred to Ayub Medical Complex Hospital, Abbottabad.

The injured were identified as driver Mohammad Babar, Mohammad Danish and Sherbaz.
