CHARSADDA: Unknown assailants shot dead a couple belonging to Peshawar here on Tuesday.

Local residents said the victims were attacked on Harichand Road near Yusaf Khan Kallay area when they were riding a motorcycle.

The Mandani police said the deceased man belonged to Wazir Bagh area of Peshawar.

The police have not yet registered FIR of the case.

Separately, unidentified gunmen ambushed a car on the Peshawar Motorway in Prang area, killing a man.

The victim was identified as Shafiqur Rehman, belonging to Bannu.

The motive behind the killing is yet to be known.

Four children of the deceased, who were also travelling in the car escaped unhurt, the police said.

Obaidullah, a cousin of the deceased, told the police that he along with Shafiq and his children was coming to Bannu from Swat when unknown people fired on their car.

The police lodged a case and started further investigation.
