QUETTA: Four workers were killed after being hit by a landslide inside a coalmine in Shahrag, a coalfield area in Harnai district, on Saturday.

Rescue officials said the landslide took place when miners were digging coal inside the mine. They were trapped in the mine.

After receiving information about the incident, officials of the local administration and Directorate of Mines rushed to the site along with rescue workers who immediately launched a rescue operation.

The rescue teams, however, could not save the lives of the four miners and found them dead when they reached deep inside the mine. “All the four coalminers were found dead and their bodies were recovered,” an official of the local administration said.
