MANSEHRA: A mob stormed the Oghi civil hospital and smashed its windows and doors and beat up doctors and other staff members on Friday night for carrying out the postmortem of a boy without his family’s consent.

Mohammad Khalid had committed suicide and the family took the body to the hospital for examination.

The police booked a dozen of people for the attack.

The protesters later gathered at the Milad Chowk and placed the body in the middle of the road blocking traffic.

A police team led by DSP Jehanzeb Khan showed up and convinced protesters to reopen the road.

They demanded withdrawal of the FIR and dispersed after the police and doctors assured them that no legal action would be taken against them.

MAN KILLED: A woman killed her former husband in Matsarian area here on Saturday.

Mohammad Sarfraz was gunned down by Naheed Bibi near his house.

Accompanied by brother Mohammad Rustam, she later fled.

The Pulrah police registered an FIR against both on the complaint of the deceased’s brother, Mohammad Sajjad and began search for them.

The police said the woman had committed the murder to revenge divorce by her former husband.

Meanwhile, the police recovered the body of a woman from the Kunhar River in Rajwal area of Kaghan valley.

The woman had jumped into the river last month over differences with her husband.

In another incident, Mohammad Arshad, 15, drowned in rainwater accumulated in a ditch in Chitta Batta area here.

The Rescue 1222 personnel recovered the body and handed it over to the family.

TOURISM: Special assistant to the chief minister Mohammad Khaliq has said the government will develop Jaile, Gidar and Razaka valleys in Upper Kohistan district to promote tourism.

“This area is blessed with unmatched natural beauty, so we’ll build infrastructure to attract tourists from within the country and abroad,” Mr Khaliq told reporters after visiting Upper Kohistan’s valleys on Saturday.

He said the government was also ensuring the people’s access to places, which were largely unexplored.

“Both Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Mahmood Khan are committed to promoting tourism in the province,” he said.

Mr Khaliq said the promotion of tourism would lead to the development of both the region and its residents.
