TAXILA: A man was arrested for his alleged involvement in a robbery in Hazro.

Addressing a press conference at his office in Hazro on Tuesday, Sub-Divisional Police Officer DSP Zaigham Abbas said Mohammad Kamran informed the police on June 10 that he was coming from Hazro to his village Tajjak after drawing Rs700,000 from the bank when two persons riding a car intercepted him and snatched the cash from him at gunpoint. Kamran said he was also shot in the leg.

Subsequently, police registered a case and launched investigation. Afterwards, a man was picked up by police who during interrogation revealed that the mastermind behind the robbery was the complainant himself as well as another suspect.

He said the complainant’s brother had sent him the cash from abroad to purchase a plot in the area. However, after getting the money, Kamran changed his mind and planned a mock robbery with his two friends. Both his friends, posing as robbers, snatched the cash from him and Kamran shot himself in the leg to dodge his brother and the police.
