SWABI: A land dispute claimed lives of four members of a family in Razaar tehsil here on Sunday.

The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Kalu Khan police station.

DSP Pasham Gul Khan told Dawn that a man along with his sons opened fire on his two brothers and other family members after arguing with them over a disputed plot.

He said that the victims along with two guests were sitting in the disputed plot when the accused appeared there, and asked them to leave the place, which they refused. Later, the two parties exchanged harsh words, which led to the firing.

DSP Gul said after killing his two brothers, the main accused along with his sons went to the victims’ house and shot and injured a woman, his two nephews and a niece.

He said Haroon Khan, his brother Faiz Mohammad and wife of their nephew, Zahid Khan, died on the spot, while Zahid, his brother Abid Khan and their seven-year-old sister sustained injuries.

The injured were taken to district headquarters hospital and Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor. One of the injured, Zahid, also succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

The Kalu Khan police registered a case against the main accused, Wazir Mohammad, and later also arrested him.
