BATKHELA: The local poets and writers honoured and congratulated Prof Abaseen Yousafzai for receiving Pride of Performance Award for his literary contribution.

The event was arranged by Mrstial Leekwal (ML) here that attended by a large number of local poets, writers, critics and research scholars.

Students of local schools showered flower petals on Prof Abaseen Yousafzai on his arrival to the event. Noted folk singer Aslam Salik sang popular numbers of the guest poet and received appreciation from the audience.

Speakers on the occasion said that Prof Abaseen Yousafzai really served the cause of Pashto through his untiring efforts and deserved the award.

They said that he motivated a generation of poets and writers and enabled them to become voice of the society.

They said that Prof Abaseen had large fans following in Pakistan, Afghanistan and among Pakhtun diaspora across the globe due to his illustrious services, style of expression and powerful writing both in Urdu and Pashto.

Noted writer Prof Noorul Amin Yousafzai chaired the event while former additional inspector general of police Sheikh Shuakat and Rahim Shah Akkundkhel, representative of Muslim community in Georgia, were special guests on the occasion.
