LAHORE: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar says the government has neither targeted anyone for political victimisation nor has it any such plan.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, Mr Buzdar said the government did not believe in revenge but accountability, transparency and merit. He, however, said the PTI government would continue taking indiscriminate action against the corrupt mafia at every level.

He regretted that a free hand was given to this mafia in the past. He said the former governments promoted the culture of nepotism in the name of merit, while the incumbent government was giving priority to merit and justice in discharging its duties.

Stating that the government believes in the supremacy of law, the chief minister said no one was above the law and the rule of law would be ensured in the province at any cost.

The chief minister said it was a credit of the PTI government that during the two and a half years not a single corruption scandal had surfaced against the government. He said the government, for the first time in the history of Pakistan, had set an example of transparency. Now, he said, no one could dare misappropriate national resources.

Mr Buzdar said billions of rupees were looted in the previous tenures and the former rulers made records of corruption by taking kickbacks and commissions in different projects. In the previous regimes, he said, every new day revealed a new scandal of corruption. He said the PDM gang was soaked with corruption.
