SUKKUR: Jacobabad police on Tuesday registered an FIR against 24 suspects on charges of murdering Waqar Korejo, who was killed in an attack by rival Marfani tribesmen on his village two days ago.

The attack was an offshoot of a running dispute between Korejo and Marfani tribesmen over ownership of a fish pond. Some of the suspects nominated in the FIR were; Allah Dad, Dilmurad, Abdul Rauf, Deedar, Mubarak aka Munshi, Lal Jan, Hakim, Naseer, Mumtaz, Qadir, Asghar, Imamuddin and others. Police had not so far arrested any suspect.

Waqar was hit in the head in the attack and later succumbed to injuries. Later, his heirs and community fellows kept his body on National Highway, burnt tyres and held a big sit-in for five hours on Begari Pull on Monday demanding arrest of the suspects and registration of FIR against them.
