LARKANA: Frequent faults in the electric motor of the Reverse Osmosis (RO) System at the department of nephrology of Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) have become a permanent headache for the management.
On Sunday, the motor fitted in the RO System again stopped working after it was burnt out due to power fluctuation, forcing the department to halt dialysis of kidney patients.
The sources in the unit confirmed Dawn on Sunday that due to interrupted power supply to the nephrology unit of the CMCH (city block), the motor developed some fault.
The patients coming from far-off areas of Larkana division had to face difficulties as the dialysis was stopped. Their attendants protested and demanded early repair of the motor.
Unit incharge Dr Ghulam Abbas Qadri conceded that the faulty motor was replaced in the evening when the CMCH medical superintendent was conveyed about the situation. Without providing ‘express feeder’ power supply to the hospital, the issue would not be resolved, he observed.
The hospital had time and again approached the concerned department for uninterrupted power supply to the health care facility, but in vain, the sources in the hospital said.
Dialysis of the patients admitted in the unit would soon be resumed as the defective motor was replaced, the incharge said.
