GUJRANWALA: The district government on Sunday seized 78,400 wheat bags hoarded in different warehouses.

Deputy Commissioner Suhail Khawaja told reporters that on receiving information, teams supervised by the Kamoki, Wazirabad and Noshehra Virkan assistant commissioners checked different flour mills and warehouses and seized 55,600 wheat bags hoarded there.

A food department team also caught 5,750 bags from seven tractor trolleys that were to be smuggled to other districts. Cases have been registered against the warehouse and vehicle owners.

ACCIDENT: A motorcyclist died in an accident with a harvester in Wazirabad on Sunday.

According to Rescue 1122, Rana Aleem, 60, was on his way to his village on a motorcycle. Near Ojla bridge on GT road, Aleem’s motorcycle was hit by a harvester, killing him on the spot.

The harvester driver fled from the spot, while police impounded the vehicle and shifted the body to Wazirabad THQ Hospital for autopsy.
