LAHORE: The Punjab government on Thursday reported that coronavirus claimed 62 more deaths in the past 24 hours taking the tally of total deaths in Punjab to 6,793.

The coronavirus infections are raging too asin the last24 hours some 2,990 new cases were reported as compared to 2,025 cases. The total tally of Covid positive cases reached 240,584 in the province.

The highest number 1,575 new cases were reported in Lahore besides 232 in Rawalpindi, 176 in Faisalabad, 87 in Multan, 77 in Sargodha, 75 in Gujranwala, 72 in Rahim Yar Khan, 69 in Sialkot, 61 in Bahawalpur, 50 in Toba Tek Singh, 42 in Vehari and 40 in Gujrat.

The Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department spokesman says the department has so far conducted 3.988 million tests and added that 198,753 coronavirus patients had recovered in the province. There are still 35,038 active cases, which are either isolated at homes or under treatment at different quarantine centers and health facilities.

VACCINATION CENTRES: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has said all vaccination centres will remain closed on Friday (today) in compliance with the directions of the NCOC.

She said people should not visit vaccination centres on Friday and added that all the centres would remain open on Sunday. She said people could contact at 1033 for guidance.
