THE Single National Curriculum (SNC) being propagated by the government is supposed to be applicable across the board, including seminaries. Its major objective is to end disparity in various systems that have for long been functional in the country, and have caused social disparity. As such the SNC is a welcome move.

Having said that, there are some grey areas that need consideration. The government is determined to introduce SNC in seminaries as well, which is the right thing to do. But it will need additional budget for the education sector. Moreover, teachers’ training is a critical aspect in this regard. The education sector of the country has already been facing trouble owing to the paucity of human and financial resources and they will be stumbling blocks in the way of SNC implementation.

Devising a new system is great, but its implementation is a mammoth task.
