ISLAMABAD: Three persons were gunned down in the capital’s rural area on Saturday night, police said.

The incident took place in front of a mosque attached with a religious seminary at Prince Road in Bhara Kahu. The victims were identified as Mufti Ikramullhah, his son Samiullah, 13, and a seminary student.

They were standing on the road in front of the Mufti’s resident adjacent to the seminary when they were attacked, the police said.

“It seems a target killing,” the police said, adding circumstantial evidence suggested that there were a couple of attackers who opened indiscriminate firing that resulted into the death of the three persons on the the spot.There was no eyewitness to the incident as the attackers escaped before arriving of people at the crime scene.

The police are collecting details about the victims, including their affiliation with any political or religious party, the police added.
