ISLAMABAD: The district administration on Tuesday replaced the management of Pirwadhai general bus stand and asked them to ensure its smooth operation without any hurdles.

As administrator of the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation, Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir has withdrawn the additional charge of the Pirwadhai Bus Stand from Additional Deputy Commissioner (Municipal Services) Junaid Alam.

In his place, the additional charge of administrative affairs has been assigned to Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Secretary Syed Asad Abbas Shirazi.

A formal notification has been issued to this effect, appointing Mr Shirazi as the administrator/manager of the General Bus Stand, Pirwadhai, and directing him to assume charge of the facility immediately.

It should be noted that traders and transporters at the general bus stand, operating under the banner of the Pakistan Transport Welfare Owners Association, have submitted numerous petitions to the relevant authorities regarding the illegal collection of a daily fee of Rs50 per bus from transporters within the bus stand premises.

Subsequently, an inquiry was conducted which recommended halting unauthorised collections and continuing passenger travel record-keeping and video recording services at the General Bus Stand under formal administrative supervision.
