MARDAN: The police claimed on Saturday to have arrested two out of the five suspects nominated in a case of sexual assault on a woman which took place in Kharki village of Katlang tehsil three days ago.

The Kharki police officials said the affected woman aged 27 lodged an FIR against the accused, stating that she was on her way home in the evening when five persons forcibly took her to a deserted place and raped her.

The married woman alleged that the accused fled the scene when lights of a passing car fell on them.

The police officials said the nominated suspects were identified as Mehran, Hazrat Ali and Talha, while identity of the remaining two was unknown.

However, the victim said she could identify them if an identification parade was held.

The officials said they were raiding different hideouts to arrest the three suspects.
