NAB starts inquiry into EXEN’s assets

SHEIKHUPURA: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has started an inquiry into the properties of a former executive engineer (EXEN) who has allegedly made assets beyond his known sources of income.

Retired Highways EXEN allegedly built four shopping plazas, 12 shops, poultry farms and a flour mill, and bought 55 acres in different parts of the district. He allegedly owns two marriage halls, a dairy farm and other properties.

The NAB, Punjab wing, directed the local revenue department to submit the record in this regard as soon as possible.

ILLEGAL PRODUCTS: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Asghar Joiya has made a task force, led by assistant commissioners, to unearth the ongoing sale of smuggled POL products in the district.

Earlier, the district administration conducted a survey which revealed that a number of petrol pumps and other sale points were selling the smuggled petrol and other products which were causing loss to government exchequer besides damaging the vehicles.

The assistant commissioners of the five tehsils had been given the task to contain this illegal business in their jurisdiction. They would continue their efforts till the elimination of this menace, the DC said.

KILLED: A mini-truck driver was shot dead by three highwaymen near Hasilpur village in the jurisdiction of Brahagarh police station in Nankana Sahib district on Wednesday.

Sher Afzal was driving the vehicle when he was intercepted by the outlaws, and on resistance, the robbers shot him dead. The police have started investigation.

DOG ATTACK: Four people, including two minors, sustained injuries when stray dogs attacked them in Warburton in Nankana Sahib on Wednesday.

Fayyaz, 40, Nabeel, 8, Eman, 5, and Naeem were taken to a local hospital where their condition is stated to be stable.
