RAWALPINDI: The number of deaths from Covid-19 has been decreasing for the last two days, however cases are rising in three districts of Rawalpindi Division.

Since the start of the new year, three to four people had been falling victim to Covid-19 whereas the daily death figure was seven to eight till Dec 29.

On Tuesday, the twin cities saw five patients losing their struggle against the virus and another 189 testing positive. As many as 20 people also recovered from the deadly virus in the district.

According to Divisional Commissioner retired Capt Mohammad Mehmood, 21 patients were on ventilator, 25 required oxygen and 63 were stable.

He said the number of Covid-19 patients was rising in three districts of Rawalpindi Division with three testing positive in Attock, seven in Jhelum and 12 in Chakwal.

Saeeda Begum, 75, from Kahuta, had been admitted to Fauji Foundation Hospital on Dec 18 where she died on Tuesday. The district has reported 671 active patients out of whom 109 are being treated in hospitals.

Islamabad

Four deaths and 132 more cases of Covid-19 were reported in the capital on Tuesday.

They were residents of Lohi Bher, G-7, F-11 and F-7; a man and a woman from the 60-69 age group whereas the other two were from the 20-29 and 80-89 age group respectively.

Officials of the capital administration said death toll from the disease in the capital rose to 432.

During the last 24 hours, 3,731 tests were conducted in the capital out of which 132 people tested positive while the positivity rate stands at 3.5pc.

Around 17 cases were reported from Lohi Bher, followed by 16 from I-8, seven from F-8, F-11, Khanna, six from Tarali, five each from G-9, E-11, G-7, four each from G-13, G-11, F-6, F-10, Alipur, three each from Bhara Kahu, Rawat, G-6, G-8, Sohan, Cirrah, D-17, two each from Rawal Town, Bari Imam, H-12, and one each from G-10, Chak Shahzad, I-10, Kurri, G-15, F-7, D-12, H-13, Tarnol. The addresses of the rest of the patients are not known.
