LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Senator Sirajul Haq has warned the government of what he called conspiracies being hatched against the country by its foreign enemies, including plots to spark sectarian violence here.

Chairing the party’s Majlis-e-Shoora (central executive body) session on the second day here on Sunday, he said that plots were being hatched by some foreign powers to push Pakistan into sectarian violence.

He urged the government and security forces to develop a plan to cope with the challenge and demanded that deprivations of the masses of the country’s under developed areas should be addressed on a priority basis to meet it.

He called for bringing electoral reforms and a national policy to free Kashmir from Indian occupation.

He condemned the killing of 11 innocent coal miners in Machh, Balochistan, terming the incident an inhuman and cowardly act of terrorism.

He regretted the rulers, instead of taking measures to ensure security of the masses, were engaged in attacking the opposition and issuing “non-serious statements”.

Meanwhile, the JI Shoora passed a resolution condemning Islamophobic trends all over the world, particularly in France, and emphasised the need for unity among the ranks of the Ummah to cope with the challenge.

It also declared as shameful the US President Donald Trump’s proposed so-called “Deal of the Century” aimed to legitimise the state of Israel, depriving Palestinians of their land.

The resolution stated that Pakistan would never recognise Israel, and fully back the struggle of Palestinian people against the Jewish state.
