GUJRAT: The local administration on Saturday launched a ‘One shop, one identity’ programme in Sara-i-Alamgir tehsil to remove extra publicity boards from shops, commercial and trade centres and other such places.

Assistant Commissioner Ahsan Mumtaz said that the owners of shops and business centres often installed two or three boards, including stand boards in front of their areas.

“Such boards cause visual pollution as well as encroach public space; that is why I have decided to launch the ‘One shop, one identity’ programme in the tehsil,” the AC said and added that the teams of administration and civic bodies would approach traders and owners of business centres for their cooperation in the drive that according to him might also improve the business conditions in the area.

He said that the traders can install a single publicity board and that they should respect the rights of other citizens.

Also, in the Tanda area of Gujrat tehsil, authorities retrieved five kanals and seven marlas in Behlolpur village from the illegal possession of a local resident.

Gujrat Assistant Commissioner Suleman Zafar Dhothar took action after a resident informed the administration about the illegal occupation of the forest department land.
