KOHAT: A police constable on Friday shot dead a man while trying to flee after killing a woman, also a murder suspect, who was taken to the orthopaedic ward of the KDA Teaching Hospital here in police custody.

SHO KDA police station Saifullah Khan told Dawn that Shamoon, a proclaimed offender wanted in a murder case, came from Hangu and shot dead the woman, who was brought to the hospital from Hangu prison for treatment. He said both the victims were cousins.

He said the policeman guarding the woman killed the PO after he was trying to flee. The bodies were shifted to Hangu after autopsy.

The SHO said they were investigating how an armed man entered the hospital and climbed up to the first floor.

A hospital official said there was no restriction of any kind on entrance of attendants in hospital.
