KARACHI: The Democrats Panel swept the Karachi Press Club elections for 2020-21 on Saturday. According to the results announced by the election commission, Fazil Jamili of Jang was elected president with 607 votes. His rival, Habib Khan Ghori from the United Panel, got 560.

Shazia Hasan of Dawn was elected vice president with 764 votes against Saeed Jan Baloch of Daily Amn who secured 393 votes.

Rizwan Bhatti (843 votes) of Business Recorder was elected secretary, defeating Muhammad Qasim Khan of 92 News, who bagged 308 votes. Abdul Waheed Rajpar of 92 News was elected treasurer with 844 votes followed by Ataullah Abro of Nawa-i-Waqt with 282 votes. Saqib Sagheer of Jang was elected joint secretary with 822 votes followed by Muhammad Shafiq (freelance) who polled 320 votes.

Abdul Aziz Sanghur (822 votes), Hamidur Rahman (765), Muhammad Farooq Sami (747), Muhammad Nabeel (747), Abdul Wasi Qureshi (746), Suleman Saadat Khan (718) and Abdul Rasheed Memon (717) were elected as members of the governing body.
